2019 New Year's Resolutions

Happy Monday, everyone!

Can you even believe that New Year's Eve is here? With 2018 coming to a close, I want to share with you all a few of my resolutions for the New Year. New Year resolutions can be tricky. Striving for a goal that you know you will never achieve can ultimately make you feel down about yourself, but it is also important to reach for obtainable goals that challenge you to be a better person and put you on the right path for fulfilling your passions and dreams. It's difficult to find that perfect middle ground, and if you don't achieve your goals I am here to tell you that it is OKAY. Working hard to better yourself will ultimately pay off, whether that happens in 2019 or 2020.  I find that reading other people's resolutions and ambitions inspire me to achieve my own, and I hope that this post will do the same for you.

1. Volunteer

I have recently felt called to volunteer at a children's hospital, and once the wedding is over (only 4 more days!!!) and the New Year begins I want to make it happen. I find that life can feel meaningless when you are not actively helping and serving other people, and I think a children's hospital would be the perfect place for me to serve. There is nothing like making a child smile. :)

2. Create Inspiring Content

My main focus for 2018 was to plan our wedding, which ultimately forced me to put some of my blogging time aside for wedding commitments. However it was certainly worth it! You only get married once, after all! I am the sort of person that is energized by creativity and creating content that is both beautiful and exciting, so I am looking forward to putting my all into blogging this year.

3. Healthy Lifestyle

I eat healthy for the most part, and work out on occasion, but I have not fully committed myself to living a healthy lifestyle - especially when it comes to working out! My goal this year is to find a routine that my body loves and that I actually enjoy and look forward to.

4. Being a Wife

Last, but not least, my last resolution is to be a wife. I realize this isn't so much a goal as it is a reality, but 2019 will be my first year being a wife to Jay, and I just can't wait to make it happen! Being married and moving in with someone brings about new challenges, but in a good way. The pastor who is officiating our wedding gave us great advice that applies to both newlyweds and couples that have been married for years. He told us that if we are both focused on serving each other that there isn't much room for argument. If you think about it, it is so true! If both people in a relationship are selflessly serving each other and trying to do things for the other person, what is there left to argue about? So my goal this year is to serve my husband. Not in a sexist, domestic, 18th century whatever-you-want-to-call-it way, but to make him happy, care for him and selflessly help him. I know in my heart he will serve me too, because he already does.

One of my favorite outfit combinations for both the fall and winter seasons is a sweater dress with over the knee boots. It is such a cute and comfortable combination that makes you look put together while feeling like you are lounging in your pajamas. Bridal Shower Dresses For Under $100 & A Sneak Peak Of My Bridal Shower

Happy Wednesday, loves!

My mom's best friends threw me the most beautiful bridal shower last weekend, which left me feeling both blessed and humbled. It was a tea party theme, and they went out of their way to make it the most magical and extravagant shower imaginable. Each table had a teapot filled with various shades of pink, white and red roses, and to make it even better, each teapot was stacked on top of books (I'm a book lover, after all). My mom's friend even made a flower crown for me to wear during the shower, and all of the guests wore formal dresses with fascinators to adorn their hair. The bridal games were a blast, and the food was delectable - there were even homemade scones for my British loving heart. So much work, planning and love went into this shower to make me feel special, so I just wanted to take a moment to share how thankful I am for all of their hard work, and how blessed I felt to have a room filled with the special ladies in my life. I was only able to snap a few pictures because I wanted to be sure to stay in the moment and to give my attention to everyone that came to celebrate this special time in my life. Searching for the perfect white dress for your bridal shower can be overwhelming and daunting. White dresses tend to either be way too expensive for the average gal or the material looks cheap. Because of these reasons, I decided to look for all of the current sales at my favorite stores to find a couple of quality, white dresses to wear to my bridal events this fall and winter. Fortunately for all of us fall and winter brides, white dresses tend to go on sale this time of year as stores bring in the darker colors of the season. However, white dresses are also scarce this time of year, so you have to purchase them before they sell out. The long sleeved dress pictured above is probably my favorite, and I can't wait to bring it along with me to my bachelorette party this October. The details in this dress are so intricate and breathtaking, justifying the original $216 price tag. However, this dress is currently on sale for $54.99, which is even cheaper than it was two weeks ago when I ordered it! It is selling out fast friends, so if you love it, now is the time to buy it!

This darling off-shoulder dress is both feminine and flattering, and gives you a good reason to show off your décolletage and shoulders. This is one of those dresses that you can't help but feel pretty in, and the fit and flare shape is so flattering on all body types. I wore it to my bridal shower this past weekend, which ended up being the perfect choice for that humid, 90 degree day! Even though we are all ready for fall, it is still summer here in Charlotte, North Carolina.
